Brush Cleaning 101

Oh, thank you thank you makeup brushes. In return, it's time to take care and clean you because you are probably dirty and full of bacteria. 

Here are two ways to clean your makeup brushes:

Heavy Duty

1. Use a professional brush cleaning spray from a your local or online beauty supply
2. Start with your foundation and cream blush brushes (these have the most product residue and need the most attention)
3. Spray solution directly on the brush heads and soak the bristles completely
4. Rub the brush head back and forth over a paper towel or tissue repeatedly until there is no more product coming off
5. Spray the rest of your brushes one at a time (i.e. eyeliner, lip, eyebrow brushes)

Gentle D.I.Y.

1. Pour a tablespoon of any baby or organic shampoo into a small bowl
2. Add warm water from your faucet so it gets nice and bubbly
3. One at a time, dip your used brushes into the solution, gently swirling them across the bottom of the bowl to release the product. Keep the brushes in the water as you add each new one.
4. After washing, let the brushes have a quick soak for 5-10 seconds, no more and no less
5. One by one, hold each brush under cold water to rinse any remaining product and seal the hairs
6. Re-mold each brush if necessary by pressing the hairs between your fingers until it’s back to its original shape

Drying Station

Do not dry your brushes in an upright position because the water settles into the glue that’s holding the bristles together at the base of each brush head and starts breaking down the glue over time, causing the hairs to come off when you swipe the brush against your face. So you can either lay your brushes flat or even better, make this quick little drying station in two steps!

1. Grab a hand towel, a paper towel or a dinner napkin. Fold it in half three times, to make it smaller and to create a “crease,” then unfold it once. Where your crease was, slide anything cylinder shaped under it to create the base of your see-saw.
2. Balance each brush across the crease so that the brush head is pointing down, but not touching the napkin. Now let them dry completely for a few hours (or overnight).

BB Creams and CC Creams

BB Creams

BB is short for "blemish or beauty balms". It has the anti-aging formulas combine the hydration of a moisturizer with the coverage of a foundation. CC Creams

CC is short for "color and care" or "color and correct", CC creams are essentially BB creams on steroids. They're designed to offer more coverage than BB creams but still go on sheer, they moisturize better, and they contain hard-core anti-aging ingredients.

How To Relieve A Sunburn

Enjoy the fun in the sun as the end of summer is almost here. To relieve your sunburn, try the following:

• Take two ibuprofen for the pain and reducing swelling
• Take vitamin E to reduce inflammation
• Drinks lots of water to stay hydrated
• Eat foods high in vitamin C (citrus fruits, strawberries, and spinach)
• Bags of frozen peas over the burned areas
• Use sliced cucumbers or cold wet tea bags
• Take a cool shower
• Dab 1 percent hydrocortisone cream
• Keep skin moisturized with shea butter
• Use lotion with aloe to soothe the skin and help with inflammation

New Blush!

It's been awhile since I had a new color out. I'm on a mission to launch the new blush colors and so far have 1 color. I call this Outrageous Pink as it's the sister color of Pink Blossom eyeshadow ( Pink Blossom is versatil so you can use it as a blush too!). It's pretty much the same color however there's an extra ingredient.

Christmas in July Sale

Looking for a Model in the Twin Cities area!

7 Spring Makeup Trends & Skin care tips to try

• Fresh Faced: Before you consider any product change, get your skin in the best condition by exfoliating and using a face mask. Looking for Testers!

Hello All,

As most of you know I recently started my mineral line. I"m still in the testing/formulation stage and have not finalized my release date. ( I'm hoping end of Jan 2012) With this said, I'm looking for a few willing testers to test out my mineral eyeshadows ( multipurpose as well). I do have some requirements since you will be giving me your HONEST review.

Requirements:

- Must be HONEST and THOROUGH. I don't want someone who says OH this colors is nice or this is horrible. I want constructive criticism. Feedback is very important to me. I want to know the specifics so I can change the formula and make it better. For example, This needs more adhesion, slip,not blended well, etc.

-Must wear it as an eyeshadow, liner, blush, face, or lips for at least a day. This is the most effective way to tell if the product is intended for. You can not just swatch it and say it's needs improvement. ( Some products are not for Lips and these will be CLEARLY marked)

- Must be kept CONFIDENTIAL. What this means you can not blog, facebook, twitter and/or youtube about testing my mineral line. I'm not sending it to you as a PR review.

- Must have knowledge of makeup ingredients. If you don't have knowledge of the makeup ingredients this does no good to me. Part of testing my mineral line is knowing what are the ingredients. What each type of ingredient does and what it helps with. For example, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Silica, Etc

- Must be 18+ years of age & in the United States. Sorry I do not ship international at the moment.

-Must respond within 3-5 days of receiving products. Respond Via Email is fine. I don't want an essay but at least good responses to each product.

- Can not hold myself or Pink Blossom Cosmetics liable for any reaction to any product or ingredients I offer.
